Privacy

MoodBook (moodbook.ink) is a small service run by an individual founder in Kyiv, Ukraine. This page says plainly what the site stores, where data goes, and what it never collects.

What stays in your browser

MoodBook stores information on your device, in your browser's local storage: your shelf of books, liked tracks and listening history (each as a YouTube video ID with its title and thumbnail address), the number of books you have explored, your Pro status and restore code, any promo code you have activated, and your language and theme choice. This information stays on your device until you remove it, is not sent to us, and we cannot see it. Clearing site data for moodbook.ink removes all of it.

MoodBook itself does not set cookies. The embedded YouTube player and Google may place cookies or use similar technologies on your device when a video loads or plays, as described in the Google Privacy Policy (see "YouTube API Services" below). Our analytics (Vercel Web Analytics) uses no cookies and does not identify you.

What we process on our servers

• The book title you type. It is sent to our serverless functions on Vercel so we can look the book up and compose a soundtrack. We keep it only in short-lived caches (up to 7 days) that speed up the same search for everyone.
• Your IP address. Vercel sees it as part of serving the site; our functions use it only for temporary rate limiting and to comply with regional restrictions. It is not written to a database.
• A promo or restore code, if you enter one. It is sent to our server to check that it is valid. We store the code, the moments it was used and the plan it unlocks. We do not store your name, e-mail or any account data, because there are no accounts.
• A purchase, if you buy Pro. Checkout runs on the hosted payment page of LiqPay (PrivatBank), which collects your payment details under the LiqPay terms and PrivatBank's privacy rules. LiqPay sends us only the order id, the plan bought, its amount and the payment status, and we store those with the restore code we issue. We never see or store your card number.

YouTube API Services

MoodBook uses YouTube API Services to find publicly available music mixes and plays them through the official embedded YouTube player. By using MoodBook you agree to be bound by the YouTube Terms of Service. Google's handling of your data is described in the Google Privacy Policy.

• What user information we access, collect, store and use. None from YouTube: MoodBook never asks you to sign in with a Google or YouTube account, so it does not access, collect or store any information about you or your YouTube account, watch history, subscriptions or likes. The only YouTube API Data MoodBook uses is public video metadata returned by YouTube search: video ID, title, channel name, duration, thumbnail address and view count. That metadata is used to compose and play your soundtrack and for nothing else, and it is never combined with information about you.
• How long we keep it and how we refresh it. Public video metadata from YouTube is stored on our servers for at most 30 days: search results expire after 30 days, and every entry in our catalogue of mixes is refreshed against YouTube or deleted within 30 days of being stored (an entry whose video is no longer available is removed). Metadata saved on your own device (your shelf, likes and history) stays there until you delete it and is refreshed each time you play the track. We do not build profiles from this data and do not share it with third parties other than displaying it to you.
• Information stored on your device. As described above, MoodBook keeps your shelf, liked tracks, history and settings in your browser's local storage; it sets no cookies of its own. The embedded YouTube player and Google may place cookies or similar technologies on your device.
• The embedded player. When a track plays, YouTube sets its own cookies and may collect data according to the Google Privacy Policy. You can manage YouTube and Google cookies in your browser settings or use a content blocker; the player will still work in most cases.
• Revoking access. Because MoodBook never receives authorised access to your YouTube account, there is nothing to revoke on our side. If you ever grant a Google permission by mistake, you can review and remove it at security.google.com/settings/security/permissions.

Other third parties we rely on

• Vercel hosts the site and serverless functions and provides our small key-value cache.
• Google Books API and Open Library receive book titles to return metadata and cover images.
• An AI model provider (currently Google Gemini) receives the book title and catalogue description to compose the soundtrack. No personal data is included in these requests.
• Google Fonts serves the typefaces.

What we do not do

• No accounts, passwords or e-mail collection. Payments, when you choose to buy, go through LiqPay as described above.
• No advertising, no tracking pixels, no sale of data.
• No analytics cookies. We use Vercel Web Analytics, which counts page views without cookies and without identifying you; it does not follow you across other sites.

Your choices and contact
